Future Forward

Benjamin Franklin, a prolific inventor and one of the founding fathers of the United States, once said: "Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing."

In this, our second edition of Future Forward, we hope we have achieved both. From our collaboration in South Africa to develop a hydrogen economy, our evolving partnership with Bahrain Steel to drive a more sustainable steelmaking industry, and our efforts to create a more circular economy in Brazil. We’ve packed this issue full of stories about the work our teams are doing to realise a smarter future for mining, and to accelerate the efforts underway - in our industry and beyond - towards a sustainable energy transition.

We hope you are enjoying receiving this snapshot into our world. Please let us know if there is a particular topic you would like to see featured, or to learn more about in future editions.

Promoting South Africa’s role in the global maritime economy

Despite having its roots in the maritime industry, South Africa’s presence in the global commercial shipping arena had waned in recent years. Working with VUKA Marine, we are helping promote the country’s maritime capabilities.
